To know a racist .......

Someone asked me how do you define someone as racist ……….
I thought about it for a bit ……..then I told her ……well there is one experiment that I think maybe able to prove that person is a racist.
If you can put subject adult and a 3 year old child of a different race in a room, and observe this adult’s behavior ……you can tell that person is a definite racist.

How?
The reason I think a child is the best candidate is solely based on the theory no child is born a racist. That child represents two things innocents and his own race. And also to eliminate other possibility that may influence the subject adult.
Like how?
Well as an adult we tend to take a person’s history and their background facts to hate someone. Usually there is a reason. So if you use a child that barely has any bad history …..Then it falls down to that person’s race.
So if you place a 3 year old child in a room with a subject adult. We can see how the adult behave around the kid.
  1. ·         Is the adult angry at that child just because of the child’s skin tone?
  2. ·         Does the adult feel like harming that child either physically or emotionally even though the child did nothing?
  3. ·         Does he feel disgusted with the child even though the child offers toys and candies to the adult?
  4. ·         Is the adult angry about anything else besides the child’s race?

If all the answer is yes (except the last one). Then it is clear that the adult is racist.
Some may argue maybe the adult is just child hater or a sexist. I say in order to eliminate that possibility they only need to test the same adult with another child of the same race with the adult.  As for eliminating gender bias the same method can be used but eliminate the race difference.
If the adult show no aggression or disgust to a child of same race and of different gender, then there is possibility that he showed anger towards the child of a different race solely based on race, since we already eliminated the possibility that he has no problem with children and gender.

I know it sounds weird. But I thought about it for sometime……….. I could be wrong but I do have a theory.

Restaurant Nepal Himalayan Cuisine @ Plaza Damas, Sri Hartamas

My sister decided to celebrate a much delayed father’s day by trying something different. So while browsing through Groupon site, she came across a Nepal cuisine. Since neither of us tried this type of cuisine before, we thought it would be a great father’s day gift.

Now if you are a very adventurous and not easily disappointed with the outcome, I dare say just walk in and go ahead with your eating adventure. But if you are trying to involve people who are not so keen with trying new cuisine, be sure to do some research or take a safer deals like such offered in groupon, because usually these deal are already pre-set and you can view and do some research about the selected dish and see if your guest are ok with it. No need to head scratch when you get there……….

Ok let’s begin ……..

Ambiance: 4/10

Now the reason I gave such a low rating is because I don’t feel like I could relate anything to Nepal or Nepalese theme. I felt quite disappointed with the ambiance of the restaurant because it lacked creativity and if I were to accidentally walk into the restaurant I could not have guessed anything about this place or what they offered.
Maybe it’s just me but the moment I walked in I could smell pressure cooked meat, while it was not unpleasant but it was not something you want to smell when you walk in. I wish they had some spices aroma or smell of burning incense. It could help accelerate the Nepal feel or something.

The waiter allows you to choose your level of spiciness, ranging from spicy, moderately spicy or mild. We asked for mild since none of us could handle spicy food (I know we are weird bunch of Indians)

 Signature snack platter (RM24)

Visual Observation: 8/10
It’s neatly presented and not sloppy. It gives you a eyes full of the variety of snack size dishes. It also looks appetizing. Very convenient if you like to try more than one dish in a small portion.

Taste evaluation: 8/10

Chilli chicken (the red one with green capsicum)
The chicken was quite tough and it was not very spicy. It’s more like a Chinese style sweet and sour dish.

Bhuteko bhatmas (Roasted soybean)
This is my favorite, it is really crunchy and it is a good combination with the other dishes. Soybeans are marinated in Nepalese spice. This could be awesome munchies while having a drink.

Nepali salad
This salad was very asian salad. It had lime taste and it also had some sweetness to it.

Aloo silam  (Boiled potatoes)
Potatoes were boiled and cooked in some Nepalese spices. It’s not spicy more like cumin and non spicy masala.

Momo dumplings
We got the steamed dumplings, which is like Chinese dumplings. I guess since Nepal is surrounded by China and India, their influence is absorbed into their food as well. The dumpling was a bit thick skinned and it was stuffed with mixture of some veggies and meat. It was quite yummy.

Mushroom peas
Again these are not spicy but more like cumin and non spicy masala.

Farsi ko daal ra khasi ko nail  (RM18)

Visual Observation: 7/10
It’s neatly presented and not sloppy. Looks appetizing. You can smell the thick pumpkin gravy.

Taste evaluation: 9/10
The thick pumpkin gravy is absolutely delicious. It goes well with white rice and it taste good on its own without the meat. The gravy is not spicy rather it’s sweet and savory. It blends well with the tender mutton. I love how the meat just falls off the bone.  It comes with big chunks of meat that suits 4 person.

My sister enjoyed this dish. She also loves bone marrow and she actually used a straw and sucked out the marrow.

Useful tip, please do not attempt to bang or knock the marrow out of the bone. It makes a lot of noise and you can break or chip the plate.

Chatamari (RM 12)

Visual Observation: 5/10
It’s neat and looks yummy. Nothing to brag about.

Taste evaluation: 7/10
This is actually thin-crust battered rice crepes topped with minced chicken, spring onions, tomatoes, and egg. Basically it’s a omelet pizza LOL. It is not bad, I liked the thickness of the caked egg and crispy crepes. Perfect for a pleasant tea time snack.

Beverages
We had to order the drinks separately as it does not come with the Groupon deal. Honestly I felt like the drinks were rather expensive.

Mango Lassi (RM12) and Sweet Lassi (RM10)

Visual and taste evaluation: 10/10
OMG I love a good lassi anytime. They nailed it. The mango lassi was amazing. It was thick and the real blended sweet mango was exquisite. I love how it looked, so delicious and so OMG.
My dad had the sweet lassi, like its name it was sweet. He said it was a touch bit too sweet for his liking. But I guess that is how it was meant to be.  But it is delicious never the less.

Masala Tea

Visual and taste evaluation: 6/10

My mom had some hot masala tea, she said it did not have the strong Indian masala taste but rather it was quite pleasant and different kind of masala tea. I guess traditional Nepal spices are not very strong but rather unique on its own.

Overall conclusion: Something different, will try again if they have new dishes.
While the food was delicious, I as an Indian (no matter how weird I am), For me i felt like the Nepal spices does not have a strong KAW or satisfying aftermeal feeling. It felt very unruffled and it does not quite hit my taste buds. It maybe different for other people. This is just my opinion after all. I do feel like the price for the food is rather steep. I can’t blame them considering the location of this place and its exotic flavors. The best way to try these dishes is to get a good deal in groupon.

Interracial Relationship

Ahhhh………..Only this type of relationship fascinates me alot. I love all type of interracial relationship but I do have a favorite type, mine is White men with Black women (wmbw). For some reason this type of couple really looks so amazing in my eyes. As weird as it sounds, I really don’t know just how to express that feeling, but usually I prefer watching “love or romance” if it involve this type of couple. Something about them really ……….makes everything so darn interesting and did I mention that they make the cutest babies.

Alas, I’m not saying that I do not prefer other type or that I only consider wmbw as the only type of “approved” relationship. When I say interracial relationship, I mean any two different races falling for each other.
So what is so interesting about them?
It always intrigues me that two people of different race and culture are able to fall in love and unite. This is something not only easy but it also shows you that you are able to embrace another race and its culture. That finding love from a person that looks nothing like your race, nothing like your culture and able to accept that and want to be a part of it together.
Most of the time, these type of relationship are not easy. I’m not saying a non interracial relationship is a piece of cake, rather their challenges or problem they face is more compare a non interracial relationship.  Maybe their complications they face are what fascinates me more (does that even make sense?) Sorry if I offend non interracial relationship, you guys face problems and obstacle to but in my opinion you do not face some of the problems faced by interracial couple, you don’t have that “extra” obstacle to crossover.
You get me? (Gosh I feel like I’m not expressing myself accurately)
What do I mean by that? Well any interracial relationship is going to have to go through a disapproval or negative phase in their life. Although we live in a modern world with its fancy technologies, when it comes to race and religion, not everyone is going to be 100% approving of your decisions.
Your friends and parents maybe cool with your significant other, but there are always going to be some group of people who are always going to disapprove and censure your interracial relationship. Because as much as our technology changes every minute of the day, sadly enough our minds are still rooted towards racism.  We have yet to move away from it.
But despite all the disapproving looks and side comments, in the end you must remember “you can never please everyone”. If your partner loves you and you love them back, why not go ahead and build a life together. If that’s what makes you happy, take that white horse and ride away into the happy land with your loved one.

I’ve seen so many of my friends that are in an interracial relationship/marriage. It just woos me so much, I just can’t explain in words. If a boy of a different race is attracted to me ……..I would ask him so many questions? Not in doubt of his interest for me, but what about me that made him consider me as his love/crush interest.
Every time I spot an interracial couple, I always wonder about their story. Like what attracted you to him/her, did you ever doubt your interracial relationship, are you happy? Did you ever think you will end up in an interracial relationship? Do you think of your future cute buttons? So many questions.
If you ever watch Scandal (if not shoot yourself), the reason that drove to watch this show is because of the interracial relationship. Second is of course the actress and third the plot itself. I doubt I will watch the show with intense anticipation if there was not an interracial relationship going on. Because let’s face it, who in the right mind wants to watch about bunch of sleezy politicians making bad decisions.

Same goes for any shows with interracial couples, it just heightens my interest to the show, unless I find the whole relationship not working towards a positive vibe.  So even when I read a book and if it involve a interracial couple, I’m all for it!
I support interracial relationship!!!! And if you are in one, go ahead and give yourself a hug.
One day I would love to have an interracial relationship, but until then I’m just gonna sit back and ‘like’ all the beautiful interracial couples in Tumblr.

I feel Challenged !!!

Before I begin! Let's just say I need a good spanking from a Grammar Teacher for my last post. Yes people I’m aware of how bad my grammar in my last post.

I swear I will correct my grammar in that post ASAP!

Ok now on with the show (as if)

Right !

The only challenge that I been doing for the past 3 years is reading challenge in Goodreads
And I barely won that one! Not because I'm a lazy person but when it comes to reading, I’m too picky about the materials I read.
Like last year I only managed to read 7 out of 10 books. I had to reduce my total amount of books because of my work environment.

I also only recorded traditional books.  Meaning reading that I've done via ebooks, readers digest, comics or wattpad, I dismissed them as "snack reading". I don't consider as books although those are actually full books only not in a traditional material.

I know I'm stupid SHOOT ME !

So this year I decided to try several challenges.

I’ve already started my Goodreads: Reading Challenge. I’m currently finished reading 9 over 20 books.

I will start my Train Adventure today since I’m going to Midvalley in about 2 hours! I already took some videos the other day but the quality was pretty bad. So I’m going to try this again!

I will start my 1 month Smoothie challenge tomorrow morning. A fresh start and I hope to god I can cure my severe above feet skin allergy that I’ve been suffering for 2 years!

The Ostrich Egg Art I started last year but stopped because I could not keep a straight and calm mind while doing this art. So I “undo” everything and needs to start this soon.  Maybe on June.

I don’t even want to talk about my car license! I need it and enuff said !

Funny ladies and their TV shows

This is my own list of ladies who I think are hilarious. I made this list based on three condition, they must be comedian, have a TV show where they are the main character and they are funny because they are original (not some hot girl trying to act funny). Meaning they are funny because they make fun of what they have (in real life) or they play the character very convincingly.  Oh and let’s not forget that I should also be able to relate to their TV shows.

        Mindy Kaling (Vera Mindy Chokalingam)

She is an American born Indian 35 year old is an American actress, comedian, writer, and producer. Later she created and stared in her own TV show called “The Mindy project”. She initially was know for her acting role in “The Office” as Kelly Kapoor, which is also has written and directed a few of the show’s episode.

Why do I find her funny?
She keeps it simple and real. She is not slim and white skinned like most TV protagonist. Therefore her show revolve around her flaws (if you wanna call it that), and she also makes you feel like its ok if you don’t look like those photoshopped models in magazines. That it’s alright to have a little body fat, awkward embarrassing moments and have loud fashion sense.

The Mindy Project
The series follows obstetrician/gynecologist Mindy Lahiri (Mindy Kaling) as she tries to balance her personal and successful professional life, surrounded by quirky co-workers in a small medical practice in New York City. Her clothing in this show proves that just because you are chubby does not mean you have to wear big baggy clothes and sweat pants.

How I related to this show ?
I’m going to say this and be honest about it.
I like this show a lot, because unlike typical shows that shows people of different race staying overseas, this show does not focus on the protagonist’s race and culture. I would very much like a show where, let’s say an Indian girl born and raised in USA, should not always force her roots into her show, occasional reference of her culture and background is ok. This show does just that, she does make reference about her culture and roots but always lightly and comedy kinda way. She does not focus on the negativity but just the positive life of a modern Indian girl in America. Also its so rare to find American Indian in TV shows.
THAT IS WHY I ADORE THIS SHOW SO MUCH!
I am Malaysian born Indian girl, born and raised as a modern city girl surrounded by multiracial culture. I also do not like my culture and root to force me to do the things I do not like. I’m not saying I don’t like my culture, I DO but sometimes my culture and my life perspective does not always meet at the same route. I like doing thing differently than most expected of an Indian girl.

(Her relationship with her co worker, Danny)
_______________________________________________________________________________

Miranda Hart (Miranda Katherine Hart Dyke)

She is a 41 year old British actress, comedian, actor, and writer. She self-written semi-autobiographical radio series Miranda Hart's Joke Shop, which later became a BC sitcom Miranda (based on her radio series) which she writes and stars in. Ah and her gas problem LOL

Why do I find her funny?
Like Mindy she also it simple and real. Also she is not your slim and sexy most TV protagonist. Her show makes you want to embraces her eccentricity. She makes a joke out of her physical flaws (if you want to call it that) and of British slang and pronunciation.

Miranda
Miranda is 6 feet 1 inch tall and gets called 'Sir' once too often. She has never fit in with her old boarding school friends, Tilly (Sally Phillips) and Fanny (Katy Wix), and finds social situations awkward, especially around men.

How I related to this show ?
Check list
Her physical imperfection of 6 feet 1 and slightly manly looks (I get mistaken for teen boy a lot)
Awkward around men (hah I blame that on my all girl schools)
Her gas problem (although I burp like a caveman)
Just plain weird and lack of fashion sense (where do I begin)

(Her relationship with her bestfriend, Stevie)
_______________________________________________________________________________

      Whoopi Goldberg (Caryn Elaine Johnson)

She is a 58 year old American comedian, actress, singer-songwriter, political activist, author and talk show host. Her breakthrough role was playing Celie, a mistreated black woman in the Deep South in the period drama film The Color Purple (1985).
She is a timeless comedian and she had many successful movies and shows. But I put her in this list because I really enjoyed her TV show called “Whoopi”

Why do I find her funny?
Oh my god where do I start, she is a natural and sassy black lady. Her jokes and comedies varies from serious issue to about herself. She is able to send strong and difficult message about blacks, gay rights and independent ladies in her comedy. That’s the work of a good comedian.

Whoopi
A faded singer one-hit wonder Mavis Rae, a cigarette-smoking, alcohol-drinking, menopausal and especially opinionated hotelier. The former one-hit wonder runs her own small hotel in New York City - and does it any way she wants.

How I related to this show ?
Can’t really say I can relate to her show like the first two. But I can relate to her activist thoughts in this show. I love the relationship she has with all her main supporting characters and also her guest stars. I love how she speak her mind and not afraid of anything. That is something I can say I can relate to. She is able to make everyone see the big elephant in the room by stating the obvious thing that is in everyone’s mind. That is something I do often, but most of the time it also gets me in trouble LOL

(Her relationship with her handsman, Nasim)
_______________________________________________________________________________

      Tina Fey (Elizabeth Stamatina Fey)

She is a 43 year old American actress, comedian, writer and producer, known for her work on the NBC sketch comedy series Saturday Night Live and such films as Mean Girls, Date Night, Admission (2013) and 30 Rock.
She is also has many contribution to the entertainment media but I am going to focus her in the 30 Rock because that is where I really took a liking to her.

Why do I find her funny?
She always reminds me of this smart independent lady that gets intro crazy situations and has snippy remarks about everything. She is a natural awkward nerdy lady next door. Her smart and sometimes backhand jokes are funny as hell.

30 Rock (Liz Lemon)
Liz Lemon, head writer of the sketch comedy show "TGS with Tracy Jordan", must deal with an arrogant new boss and a crazy new star, all while trying to run a successful TV show without losing her mind.

How I related to this show ?
Checklist
Nerdy looks (aced that)
Dealing with too much problem with little time, although I work as a designer, it was not easy to deal with thorny customer and please everyone. It almost never exists, so when people come to you for help when you already have your handful with your own load of crap, it is so difficult to say NO. This is because there is a goal and the only way to get to that goal is to ensure all your team players get along and nobody is plotting to murder you at the end of the day. Oh and having an arrogant boss that just lives in his own world is OMG SO MY LIFE!

(Her relationship with her boss, Jack Donaghy)

_______________________________________________________________________________

      Katherine Parkinson (Laura Katherine Parkinson)

She is a 36 year old English actress. She is best known for her role as Jen Barber in the comedy series The IT Crowd, for which she received a British Comedy Best TV Actress Award in 2009.

Why do I find her funny?
Now I know she is not the only main protagonist in the show, she share with other actors. The reason I picked her is because she stand out as the only main female protagonist who is not famous because she is sexy or show off her chesticals. She is famous because she is able to carry her Jen character without the need to show off some skin and being adorable IT dope.

The IT Crowd (Jen Barber)
Set in a company called Reynholm Industries, the show revolves around the three staff members of its IT department: a geeky genius named Maurice Moss, the work-shy Roy Trenneman, and Jen Barber, the department head/relationship manager, who knows nothing about IT.
Jen, the newest member of the team, is hopelessly non-technical, despite claiming on her CV that she has "a lot of experience with computers". Her official title is "relationship manager", yet her attempts at bridging the gulf between the technicians and the business generally have the opposite effect, landing Jen in situations just as ludicrous as those of her team-mates. (Statement taken from Wikipedia)

How I related to this show ?
Working with IT people or team players (my life)
Have magnetic aura for attracting weird and in-the-closet gays guys (my life)
Works with ignorant boss and other non IT-illiterate management team (my life)

(Her relationship with Roy and Moss (my fav))

Why I hardly watch Indian movies...........

Oh! Look controversial topic……..how exciting!!! It’s gonna be a long post and it might offend some people but seriously I don’t give a rats arse.

So let’s start ranting!!

I’ve been asked many times in my life, why as an Indian I avoid or rarely watch Indian movies, let it be bollywood or mollywood or whatever wood. Why ?  Oh Whyyyyyy?

Most of the time, before I could answer their question, they take the pleasure of making fun of me. The overused insult is “Do you think you are velai karuchi ?” (Do you think you are white girl) Usually when that snide brainless comment is thrown at my way, I know in my heart I rather just smile and ignore this person because in the end, nothing is going to change his or her head.  No matter what I say. Seriously!
So this post is dedicated to people who actually want to know why.  And before I begin, I wanna say thank you for taking your time to read this and listen to my answer J.

*To make it easier for me to write this, I gonna put all the Indian film industry (bollywood, mollywood…….) as Indian-wood it sounds porno but hey whatever as long as its easier  to write!

So It’s not like I’ve never watched Indian-wood before, I’ve watched Indian-wood plenty, but all that was when I was a lot younger when I actually liked what I was watching. So what changed my mind?

I have a few reasons but the main one is:………………It’s skin color people!

Did you notice (or pretend not to notice) that almost all the actress in Indian-wood today are light skinned. Now before you start throwing seven hellish evil comments at me. Just hear me out people.  Indians, we come in many different shades, am I right? It does not matter if you are from south or north or east or west side of India. The fact is, Indians in general we come in many beautiful shades of color. We range from the darkest chocolate brown to the almost pale white complexion.

So why in the hell there are not many darker shade actresses in movies?

Now let’s just back track a little, back when I was younger, I remember watching many actress that had many range of skin tone color and they were all famous and beautiful.  Example actress Madhubala, Bhanu Priya, Rohini, Silk Smith, Raadhika, Sarita, Anu Hassan, Roja, Kajol, Rekha , Sharada, Navya nair…….just to name a few. Some of you will get defensive and say “Hey they are not that dark! They are fair”.

But people that is not what I meant. What I meant is that they have some brown in them it does not matter if they are darker or not the fact is, back them Indian-wood had some brown girls (dusky completion) ranging from dark to dusky to fair. They had lighter skin actress and they also had darker skin actress. Back then I was happy if I saw Sarita in movies. I thought she was beautiful with her big Indian eyes and dark skin. But now, all you see is light skinned girls or very very light dusky actress! What happen to all the darker skin girls? Why are they not cast as the main actress in movies anymore? All I see is darker skinned girls are either a ‘friend’ to the lighter skinned actress or she is a laughing joke!

Why is there a prejudice against casting only light skinned girls. Now now I’m not saying Indian girls with lighter skinned tone are not Indian. Come on people! What I am saying is that WHERE IS THE BALANCE!

And you must be wondering hey there are plenty of dark skinned actors in movies! Well my dear friends there is not much prejudice against dark skinned actors compare to actress isn’t it? Famous Indian movie star is dark skinned guy am I right? But here is another thing that makes me annoyed about Indian-wood film industry, why is that, a dark skinned guy falls for a lighter skinned girls and if she rejects him, he tells her to see his personality not his skin tone. He advice her on how wrong she is at judging him by his dark skin tone but you rarely see that happening the opposite way?

They make song and jolly duet about it, in fact a whole movie dedicating a story of how a dark skinned hero falling for lighter skinned actress all the time. Where is the ‘other’ movie, where is that movie where a darker skinned girl falling for a lighter skinned guy. Where is that movie? Where is that song?

Why is that when a dark skinned guy when tries to sing a song about his skin tone and trying to somehow match his skin color in a duet with lighter skinned girl, he always compares himself or make example of Rajinikanth. Why? Because he has someone to look up to as an inspiration. A person who is not light skinned and is famous. So how is a darker skinned girl going to make a duet song about liking a lighter skinned guy, when all the Indian-wood only worship light skinned girls? Who is she going to sing about ? Let’s be real!  Do you ever recall any movie where a dark skinned actress is a portrayed as beautiful and intelligent or dreamy. No I do not mean when she is caked with make up to make herself less dark in appearance.

Remember the Karuthamma movie, I loved it! For the story and also for the fact that a light skinned doctor falls for a darker skinned village girl. I was thrilled!!! But there was no happy ending was there? She did not get married to him in the end did she? Why can’t there be a dark skinned girl who is not a village born and she is dreamy in the eyes of the hero? Why is that in the country where we are known for our brown skin tone, we only celebrate light skinned actress? Again let’s not forget the bias gender issue either. I think there is plenty of balance of dark skin and light skinned actors. Now all we need is a good balance of that applied in actress department. We need our very own “Female Rajinikanth”.

Movies like Indira, Karuthamma and Roja, are my favourite. I love their story and their casting. Anytime a girl is darker skinned to the actor I feel so ecstatic, because it is so rare and the trend never picked up.  Roja movie did not touch on skin issue but the fact that she was the second child in the movie made me even eager to watch it. I’m a second child nothing ever happens to second child, only the first !!! LOL

Bollywood has 90% light skinned actress and actors, I don’t know why but Indians from India always tells me that north people are much lighter than south, maybe that is true. They have taken that into account and they stick to light skinned. They white washed everything from actor, actress and even their movies. Apparently Bollywood thinks that the only way you are not a typical Indian if you are fair, rich and lives overseas in luxury. Breaking whatever rule they know about Indian culture. I only watched Hindi movie if Kajol is around. Although god honest I sometimes feel like she too is whitewashed on screen.

So what happen to south Indians, Why aren’t you celebrating the darker skinned actress? You have done well for the actors, so what about the dark skinned actress? Why are they all light skinned? Are you ashamed of your dark skinned girls?  Why we are so worked up about a darker skinned girl being the main character?

Here is another thing I notice. When a lighter skinned actress who may not be the main character plays a ‘maid’ or ‘friend’ characters, she is in good situation no matter how fat or ugly she looks. As long as she is light all is fair game. But let’s say that fat and ugly girl is dark skinned and OMG  she is a JOKE !!!???? She is automatically not attractive and became subject to cruel jokes and poke fun!!!  I’m not saying fat light skinned girls are not made fun, but not as much as dark skinned girls. They always are seen as light skinned luscious maid or auntie that makes other supporting actors lust after them.

A dark skinned hero can scold his ‘friend’ saying “it’s not nice to make fun of dark skinned girls, they are beautiful too’ but turns around and fall head over heels over light skinned girl. I say ok, maybe it’s a preference, he likes lighter skin girls. So what happens if a dark skinned girl falls for light skinned guy, Why can’t that be a preference of hers? Why people treat her like she is delusional? She is out of his league? Why? Because she is dark and he is not? Why he can play the card but she can’t?

I know some of you say like “there are still some dark actress in Indian-wood” True that is true up until I notice all this actress are either whitewashed or they are caked in make up to appear less dark. There is not true variety of skin shade anymore. Rather if you are fair…….it does not matter if you are fat, not attractive or downright worse at acting, as long as you are fair/ light skinned you are hired!

I have avoided watching Indian-wood movies now because I don’t feel inspired. I don’t feel proud and I refused to worship and fan girl over light skinned girls dominating Indian-woods. I want balance, I’m not saying fire and chase away all the light skinned actress, don’t forget they are Indians too, what I saying is that I would very much prefer a balance. I want to see a movie where a light skinned hero falls head over heels when he sees a modern dreamy dark skinned girl. I want to see a dark skinned girls dancing to a song that celebrate her dark skin tone. I want to see a dark skinned actress having main characters roles not just a side joke that nobody will remember her after T minus 2 seconds. I want to see a “Female Rajinikanth”.

This is why I refused to watch Indian-wood movies. I only watch them if and only if someone tells me the movie is different or it has amazing plot. If it’s a love story …..which it always is ……. Its not my genre unless they produce a movie where a dark skinned girl is cast as the main actress and her skin tone is not an issue rather she is just a dreamy Indian beauty…….maybe then I will consider again.

It’s already bad that white skinned is worshiped and it dominates media industry and the world. So if I can’t be proud of my skin tone in Indian-wood why should I accept and worship light skinned actress that has nothing in common with me besides being Indian.

It is bad enough that media force girls into thinking THIN is beautiful, since that applies to all color, race and country, it is a global issue. Weight can change and it’s a matter of choice if you want to be thin or chubby or whatever, But skin is not a choice!!!! It is something you are born in and it will stay with you no matter what. Since this is not something you can simply turn on and off, why don’t we teach our younger generations how to respect and love the skin color you are born with, to tell them not to believe what bold face lies they throw on TV saying Fair skin means beauty and success.

It’s heart breaking to see a young girl asking her mom to buy her bleach cream because she is not beautiful and fair like her friends. And you know what is sadder (if that is even a word) The mom agrees and buys her 10 year old daughter a bleach cream!!!!! LADY WTF !!!! You lady are a disgrace !!!!

Smores @ Bangsar South

Yesterday my friend and I went to have our dinner and drink here. This place by far is my favorite place to chill out and dine. I like this place because it is usually not so packed and the atmosphere is just like what the slogan of this place says “Bar, Restaurant and Chill out”.
So we ordered drinks for the RM60 because its pass 8pm. We got 2 Mai tai and 1 Acapulco nite cocktails and Porky Platter. Since I’ve already reviewed Mai tai before this, I’m just going to focus on one drink.

Acapulco nite

Visual Observation: 5/10
Is it a trademark of Smores to put cherry and lime slice on all their drinks? No matter what it looks neat and chic. I choose this drink because it had milk in it. I was feeling tired and the word milk was magnet to my eyes.

Taste evaluation: 7/10
The drink is a mixture of Tequila, Vodka, Kahlua, Milk and Coke. The mixture is thick and almost like a frappuccino kinda feel to it. It is not a juice like light texture drink. At first when you take a sip u can taste the vodka and coke mixture, but as u swallow you can taste the milk and tequilla’s bitterness. I think the drink was awesome. It tasted good and I liked how the thick drink makes you wanna lick the bottom of the glass.
The alcohol effect is not immediate, maybe after two or 3 sips you can feel the effect building up. Its not very story drink but its enough for you to get the feel. Best to drink this by staw, because it’s a savory drink.

Porky Platter

Visual and Taste evaluation: 10/10
This is by far the most expensive dish, dish contains pork sausages 3 different kind, pork ribs, pork loin, bratwurst, potatoes and salads with tomatoes and lemons. It comes with 3 different souces: BBQ, Apple sauce and brown sauce.
Best to eat this in a group of 3 or 4, unless you have super love meat and can take large portion 2 people is a big helping J.

This is my second try of this dish and I am not disappointed. I loved everything that comes with this platter. Worth the money and extremely satisfying! The succulent meat just falls of smopothy from its ribs, the sausages are juicy and tender. The pork lion is cooked to perfection, the skin is crispy and slightly salty while the meat is juicy and tender. Soft baked potatoes and salty bratwurst goes well with the meat.

A MUST TRY DISH FOR ALL OINK OINK LOVERS!!!

Malones @ Sooka Central

Malones is a Irish restaurant and bar, located across from KL Central. It’s just outside Sooka’s building. It’s a rather weird location, its located at the center of the walkway (soft of).
My friend and I decided to have some drinks and catch up on some life thoughts, and we decided on this place. I always wanted to try this place back when I was working at plaza central but there was not many alcohol drinking friends around at that time.

Ambiance: 5/10

http://www.malones.my/index.html

I think it looks like a decent bar, typical dark and yellow light bar. Nothing to shout about. I personally thought the bar looks more on the dark side. I knocked my feet a few times while walking to find seats.
I took these images from their website because I just didn’t have the time to take any pictures. Too many people around and I don’t think this is an ideal place if you are hang out in a large group.

 Sex on the beach

The moment my eyes landed on the cocktail name, I was like I want this! Name as good as it sound should justify that drink right ? WRONG !!!
I don’t know if this drink should taste like this but MAN I was disappointed. But before I jump into my rant, let’s take this one step at the time.

Visual Observation: 3/10
Visually it was disappointing to look at. I mean there is lack of decoration and presentation was a dissatisfying.  It looks like the drink had period ………honestly speaking !!!!! Should name it as period on the beach instead. Where is the small umbrella, the slice of pineapple, the cheery and my flower!!! WHERE!!!!

Taste evaluation: 2/10
OMG, after taking the first sip I was like ……um ok nothing happening here. Drink tasted quite light …..almost watery like. After awhile I took another big sip and was waiting for the sex to happen. Nothing it still felt like nothing was trigging my alcohol sense.
I gave up and took a long sip, about half mouth full and swallowed …….nothing. I honestly tasted no alcohol in the drink. I was severely disappointed !!!!! It was bad !!!!

Mai tai

Remember my earlier review of Mai tai in S’mores. If not check link here: S'mores's Mai tai

That was a Mai Tai this was Ma Tahi !!! Gosh I’m sorry for sounding harsh but really these drink are not cheap so at least you can do is make it taste good.

Visual Observation: 3/10
