KGB @ Mid Valley

So the other day my sis and I was walking around Midvalley........endless hour of searching for me shoes for me and my bigfoot. So after  many hours, we decided we both wanted something really fast, but savory .....somewhere along the border line of Fast food but not too commercial.

Yes yes, We have mad conditions LOL.

So while deciding on which kind of food that goes into our very complicated conditions, we happened to walk pass KBG Burgers, And just so happens while I was walking pass one of the table, a couple of guys got up  and left (obviously loved what they ate because one of the guys actually took a bite out of his tissue paper LOL

So we decided KGB was our calling. Now now, KGB here has nothing to do with Russians and their military. It simply stands for K = Killer  G = Gourmet  B = Burgers.

*Guys, I'm sorry, If the images are not very good because we were rushing (KTM not car) and my sister was too hungry to wait for me to take proper pictures.

Ambiance: 4/10
I gave low rating is because its a small booth not a whole restaurant and it can get pretty loud and noisy because people are talking and doing people things LOL.
I wish they had a small indoor seating rather then sharing the outside space with other smaller food booth.

*My sis and I had quite the neighbor while we were waiting for our food. The dude was breaking up with her and it was rather sad because the gal was half crying and half flabbergasted. We could hear their conversation. So yeah .........it was that close. Not really a place you can sit in a large group for few hours and chat away.......

Tornado (Chicken) - RM15.90 + Add RM 6.50 Set Meal

Visual Observation: 7/10
It’s neatly presented and not sloppy. Looks appetizing. The thing about wrap food is if its not done properly it is going to look bad. But KGB nailed it!

Taste evaluation: 9/10
Grilled Chicken (not too thick or chunky - just nice), crispy onion rings, sunny side egg (OMG!!!) and buffalowing aoili sauce (flavored with hot and spicy mayonnaise).

My only complain is that my sunny egg was difficult to eat with the rest of the burger. Embarrassingly it ran down my hand when I took a big bite out of the burger. Not very lady like i tell you !!!

My sister had The Shack but as you can see I have no picture of it!!! Sigh.....

You can choose soft drinks along with fries and you can choose its flavour. We had cajun fries. It was mildly spicy and It was served hot and crispy. Nobody likes soggy fires :P

The bottle is tiny and I was so close to taking it along with me. It very rare to see Coca Cola served in bottles since we Malaysians are used to drinking it from Cans and plastic bottle. :P

It comes with other range of side orders and drinks but we didn't try them out .....which is why I wasn't so keen about wanting to write a review about KGB. But then again, while I can I try to share as much as I can. Does that even make sense ......Oh dear ......

I can share some of the pictures of the menu I managed to take. So you can see what other food and drinks as well as the prices offered.

If you are looking for a good tasty burger, this is the place to go :)

Restaurant Nepal Himalayan Cuisine @ Plaza Damas, Sri Hartamas

My sister decided to celebrate a much delayed father’s day by trying something different. So while browsing through Groupon site, she came across a Nepal cuisine. Since neither of us tried this type of cuisine before, we thought it would be a great father’s day gift.

Now if you are a very adventurous and not easily disappointed with the outcome, I dare say just walk in and go ahead with your eating adventure. But if you are trying to involve people who are not so keen with trying new cuisine, be sure to do some research or take a safer deals like such offered in groupon, because usually these deal are already pre-set and you can view and do some research about the selected dish and see if your guest are ok with it. No need to head scratch when you get there……….

Ok let’s begin ……..

Ambiance: 4/10

Now the reason I gave such a low rating is because I don’t feel like I could relate anything to Nepal or Nepalese theme. I felt quite disappointed with the ambiance of the restaurant because it lacked creativity and if I were to accidentally walk into the restaurant I could not have guessed anything about this place or what they offered.
Maybe it’s just me but the moment I walked in I could smell pressure cooked meat, while it was not unpleasant but it was not something you want to smell when you walk in. I wish they had some spices aroma or smell of burning incense. It could help accelerate the Nepal feel or something.

The waiter allows you to choose your level of spiciness, ranging from spicy, moderately spicy or mild. We asked for mild since none of us could handle spicy food (I know we are weird bunch of Indians)

 Signature snack platter (RM24)

Visual Observation: 8/10
It’s neatly presented and not sloppy. It gives you a eyes full of the variety of snack size dishes. It also looks appetizing. Very convenient if you like to try more than one dish in a small portion.

Taste evaluation: 8/10

Chilli chicken (the red one with green capsicum)
The chicken was quite tough and it was not very spicy. It’s more like a Chinese style sweet and sour dish.

Bhuteko bhatmas (Roasted soybean)
This is my favorite, it is really crunchy and it is a good combination with the other dishes. Soybeans are marinated in Nepalese spice. This could be awesome munchies while having a drink.

Nepali salad
This salad was very asian salad. It had lime taste and it also had some sweetness to it.

Aloo silam  (Boiled potatoes)
Potatoes were boiled and cooked in some Nepalese spices. It’s not spicy more like cumin and non spicy masala.

Momo dumplings
We got the steamed dumplings, which is like Chinese dumplings. I guess since Nepal is surrounded by China and India, their influence is absorbed into their food as well. The dumpling was a bit thick skinned and it was stuffed with mixture of some veggies and meat. It was quite yummy.

Mushroom peas
Again these are not spicy but more like cumin and non spicy masala.

Farsi ko daal ra khasi ko nail  (RM18)

Visual Observation: 7/10
It’s neatly presented and not sloppy. Looks appetizing. You can smell the thick pumpkin gravy.

Taste evaluation: 9/10
The thick pumpkin gravy is absolutely delicious. It goes well with white rice and it taste good on its own without the meat. The gravy is not spicy rather it’s sweet and savory. It blends well with the tender mutton. I love how the meat just falls off the bone.  It comes with big chunks of meat that suits 4 person.

My sister enjoyed this dish. She also loves bone marrow and she actually used a straw and sucked out the marrow.

Useful tip, please do not attempt to bang or knock the marrow out of the bone. It makes a lot of noise and you can break or chip the plate.

Chatamari (RM 12)

Visual Observation: 5/10
It’s neat and looks yummy. Nothing to brag about.

Taste evaluation: 7/10
This is actually thin-crust battered rice crepes topped with minced chicken, spring onions, tomatoes, and egg. Basically it’s a omelet pizza LOL. It is not bad, I liked the thickness of the caked egg and crispy crepes. Perfect for a pleasant tea time snack.

Beverages
We had to order the drinks separately as it does not come with the Groupon deal. Honestly I felt like the drinks were rather expensive.

Mango Lassi (RM12) and Sweet Lassi (RM10)

Visual and taste evaluation: 10/10
OMG I love a good lassi anytime. They nailed it. The mango lassi was amazing. It was thick and the real blended sweet mango was exquisite. I love how it looked, so delicious and so OMG.
My dad had the sweet lassi, like its name it was sweet. He said it was a touch bit too sweet for his liking. But I guess that is how it was meant to be.  But it is delicious never the less.

Masala Tea

Visual and taste evaluation: 6/10

My mom had some hot masala tea, she said it did not have the strong Indian masala taste but rather it was quite pleasant and different kind of masala tea. I guess traditional Nepal spices are not very strong but rather unique on its own.

Overall conclusion: Something different, will try again if they have new dishes.
While the food was delicious, I as an Indian (no matter how weird I am), For me i felt like the Nepal spices does not have a strong KAW or satisfying aftermeal feeling. It felt very unruffled and it does not quite hit my taste buds. It maybe different for other people. This is just my opinion after all. I do feel like the price for the food is rather steep. I can’t blame them considering the location of this place and its exotic flavors. The best way to try these dishes is to get a good deal in groupon.

Smores @ Bangsar South

Yesterday my friend and I went to have our dinner and drink here. This place by far is my favorite place to chill out and dine. I like this place because it is usually not so packed and the atmosphere is just like what the slogan of this place says “Bar, Restaurant and Chill out”.
So we ordered drinks for the RM60 because its pass 8pm. We got 2 Mai tai and 1 Acapulco nite cocktails and Porky Platter. Since I’ve already reviewed Mai tai before this, I’m just going to focus on one drink.

Acapulco nite

Visual Observation: 5/10
Is it a trademark of Smores to put cherry and lime slice on all their drinks? No matter what it looks neat and chic. I choose this drink because it had milk in it. I was feeling tired and the word milk was magnet to my eyes.

Taste evaluation: 7/10
The drink is a mixture of Tequila, Vodka, Kahlua, Milk and Coke. The mixture is thick and almost like a frappuccino kinda feel to it. It is not a juice like light texture drink. At first when you take a sip u can taste the vodka and coke mixture, but as u swallow you can taste the milk and tequilla’s bitterness. I think the drink was awesome. It tasted good and I liked how the thick drink makes you wanna lick the bottom of the glass.
The alcohol effect is not immediate, maybe after two or 3 sips you can feel the effect building up. Its not very story drink but its enough for you to get the feel. Best to drink this by staw, because it’s a savory drink.

Porky Platter

Visual and Taste evaluation: 10/10
This is by far the most expensive dish, dish contains pork sausages 3 different kind, pork ribs, pork loin, bratwurst, potatoes and salads with tomatoes and lemons. It comes with 3 different souces: BBQ, Apple sauce and brown sauce.
Best to eat this in a group of 3 or 4, unless you have super love meat and can take large portion 2 people is a big helping J.

This is my second try of this dish and I am not disappointed. I loved everything that comes with this platter. Worth the money and extremely satisfying! The succulent meat just falls of smopothy from its ribs, the sausages are juicy and tender. The pork lion is cooked to perfection, the skin is crispy and slightly salty while the meat is juicy and tender. Soft baked potatoes and salty bratwurst goes well with the meat.

A MUST TRY DISH FOR ALL OINK OINK LOVERS!!!

Smores @ Bangsar South

RM50 for 3 cocktails or Beer (mix) till 8pm
RM60 for 3 cocktails or Beer (mix) after 8pm onwards

We arrived early, so naturally we decided to go for RM50 deal (that is RM16 per drink). I like having drinks here because I think their deal is pretty good. So far I’ve only seen other bars offering free or discounts for all night for beers and I don’t fancy beer much. I’m yet to see other  bars that offer good deals for cocktails. If you know of any other place that offers better let me know.

Pearl Diver

Visual Observation: 10/10
This is quickly becoming one of my favorite cocktail.  This drink is quite strong, already had this before so I knew what I was in for. The liquor had a lovely green tint, it looks delicious. I don’t like elaborate decorations on my cocktail because if it gets in the way, it’s annoying. It looks simple and elegant.

Taste evaluation: 9/10
This drink is a mixture of Rum, Cointreau (an orange-flavoured liqueur), Lime, Midori. So it is pretty strong. I loved that it has light texture, not heavy, so you could still have heavy meal and finish this drink. The taste is slightly bitter when you first take a sip it but as swallow it gets sweet. So it’s a dive down your throat alright LOL. This drink is best drank from the glass rim.
You will feel the alcohol hitting you right away, like I said it’s pretty strong, so if you don’t like you drinks strong don’t buy this drink. Don’t get this drink if you cannot handle alcohol.

Mai tai

Visual Observation: 10/10
This drink is both our favorite so far. This is the kind of drink that you can have 3 times and still don’t feel overly tipsy.  Suitable for people who are not very good at handling their drinks.
Very pretty colors, reminds me of Thailand tropical beach for some reason. It looks like a sunrise in a glass. Honestly!! Love the simple Lime, Cherry and mint leaves, deco was simple and elegant.  Best to drink it from the straw because it’s a savory drink.

 Taste evaluation: 9/10
This drink is a mixture of rum, orange curacao, pineapple juice, guava juice, lime juice, rock candy syrup. I’m not sure if that is exact recipe, but I think its pretty close. You can mix your drink, or you can have it just like that. You can immediately taste some fruit juice, and strong tint of pineapple. You sip on it and feel the bitterness as you swallow. It’s not unpleasant, the bitterness is barely there. It’s a light texture drink, nothing heavy and you don’t feel the alcohol right away. It takes about a good few sips or gulps before you actually feel the effect.

Sexy Chocolate

Visual Observation: 4/10
My least favorite drink, it was a bit let down to be honest.  The design looked pretty lame. Sexy written in chocolate …….really !!!! You could have at least throw in a lean chocolate bar strip or some chocolate carving. It really looked lame and does not justify the name. I was disappointed with this design, I wanted something that looked sexy.

Taste evaluation: 3/10
The first sip was a disappointment, I did not like the taste too bitter and I honestly didn’t taste any chocolate. My friend said he could taste some trace of chocolate, but to me it was lost. This drink had mild alcohol effect the moment you take a sip.  The texture is rather heavy, I mean it is not a light juice like texture like the first two. The quantity is not much, so the drink is ok if you’re having a heavy meal.
This drink is a mixture of Chocolate, Tequila, Cointreau. Honestly where is the chocolate!!! Base on my observation I feel like the chocolate was just merely in the glass surface and the writing. This drink qould have tasted better if they have given u a lean dark chocolate bar strip. It would have helped with the taste. This drink is best drink from the glass rim.

Pork cocktail sausage wrapped in bacon strips

Visual and Taste evaluation: 8/10
If you order finger food chances are they are going to be going to fried and greesy !!! So don’t complain that its heart attack served in a plate.
This food was so good that I forgot to take pictures just straight up dived right into it. You know bacon is heaven. Need I say more? Arranged neatly on a small rectangular plate, comes with some mustard and lemon piece. The sausage was juicy and the crispy bacon just goes well with the meat. My mouth is watering from just thinking about it.

Deep fried stuffed mozzarella wrap with bacon

Visual and Taste evaluation: 9/10
WOW, just the name sounds yummy beyond words. The crispy outer layer and bacon strip goes superbly well with melted mozzarella cheese.  I can’t go on. I seriously am craving for this now!! Again neatly arranged and comes with dash of mustard and a lemon piece.

Deep fried chicken wings

Visual and Taste evaluation: 5/10
This looks just as good. I enjoyed it but there is something missing. For me, honestly I felt like the chicken wings were a bit on the dry side. The chicken was not as succulent or juicy. The marinated wings were not strong, you can’t taste the sweet and spice taste, so it gave somewhat of a blunt taste.  This dish is ok on its own but it was not as good as the first two.

Overall conclusion: It was good chill out time with good drinks and good food.

Tax and service charges included.

MOO COW @ The Gardens Midvalley

I decided to do a separate post because the Thai review was very long.

So after walking out of Absolute Thai with our lips burning and slight tummy ache, we were both craving for something cooling. I was picturing a cold glass of milk when I eyes saw a cow from the corner of my eyes. Yes a cow in the mall LOL

Well Moo Cow actually serve frozen yogurt but hey milk …… yogurt ……..same difference right ? So I practically dragged my sis to the counter. We were both full from our lunch but really my body was shouting for something to cool down the spicy food. So we decided to share a cone.

A plain yogurt in a cone is RM6.90, but if you want to try their additional flavors which is Kiwi or Blueberry then its RM7.90. So, I decided to go for Blueberry yogurt.

Visual Observation: 8+/10
While waiting for the dude to make my cone, I had this notion that it was going to be a small cone that could vanish in about two bites. But when he hand me the cone, I was like ‘OMG-its huge’. I mean there is a good helping of good yogurt. The sharp pointy tip is missing from my picture because I couldn't resist a bite as soon as I had it in my hand. Sorry >.<

Taste evaluation: 8+/10
It tasted soooo good. I might be exaggerating a little bit, but that is probably because my numb mouth was begging for something to cool it down.  For me I did not think the yogurt was too sweet, I think it tasted just right. Some might feel like the taste is overwhelming, but I love yogurt and lassi drinks, so I love anything yogurt.

The yogurt’s texture is just like a well frozen ice cream. The cone was crispy and it tasted good. I loved it.
Reminder, please do not over do your toppings selections. It may ruin the taste of the yogurt.
Overall Conclusion: I will definitely try other flavors and this is going to be one of my favorite healthy snacking. Must try for all yogurt lovers.

Additional: No service charge and No government tax.

Absolute Thai @ The Gardens Midvalley

After a crowded morning at MCTF’14 (Malaysia’s Career and Training Fair) at Midvalley convention hall, my sister and I decided to go for a late lunch. We had to push our way though the very narrow path in between the company booths just to get around. So many humans …..humans everywhere. Suddenly I had this weird thought, what if there is a zombie outbreak …………how in the world are we to run away if there is so many people to push your way through. Worse yet how can you tell which person is infected, which one got bitten and which one is gonna bash you in the head just to safe themselves…………….omg creepy thought !!! GASP!!!!

OK!!!! Let’s move on from that crazy thought.

So after leaving the MCTF, we decided to head straight to The Gardens for late lunch and we decided on Thai food.

Before I continue let me just clarify that despite being Indian, both my sis and I cannot handle spicy food. I am terrible with spicy food. Coughing, running nose, teary eyes, constant jerking of my head to the side, to ease the tingling sensation in my ears. Yes I’m an ugly sight to behold.

So why did we choose Thai? First off it was affordable and second I was rather hungry and I wanted something heavy and ……..ricey. So we decided to avoid Tom yam to safe us from any embarrassment.

Ambiance: 8/10

I loved it. I mean it does not really portray Thailand theme, but it has very unique and indifference feel to it. It is decorated in a modern classic Thailand theme. It does not touch all about Thai typical theme, rather it has a mixture of both here and there.

I like this painting very much. It looks beautiful, until you notice just how anorexic they actually look.   They remind me of Thailand’s well known creepy and horror movie’s beautiful ghostly girls. J

Starter: Money Bags (RM9.90)

Visual Observation: 5/10

It looks neat, nothing sloppy. Up close the money bags looks like they are soft. But really they are far from it.

Taste evaluation: 5/10
There isn’t much to say here. Was it crispy? Yes very. I liked it but not going to say it has any significant detail or taste that I would highlight. Taste good. Although in my opinion I thought the green beans used was rather dry and tasteless.

Beverages: Chinese Tea (hot – pot serving)  (RM5)
Visual Observation : 6/10
Taste evaluation: 5/10

I love the tiny tea saucer set. So cute! I suddenly had the urge to speak in an English accent LOL. The tea was quite light, I mean unlike the Chinese tea you get at the hawkers, the color of the tea is much lighter and the taste is not so strong. Not saying I don’t like it, but it did go well with our spicy food.

Main Dish: Phad Thai Prawn (RM19.90)

Visual Observation: 5/10
I just wanted to point out that my phad thai did not look like how it was represented in the menu book. So when the food arrived I thought the waiter got me the wrong order. But putting aside that matter, it was served elegantly. I think it looks neat without any smudges on the plate.

Taste evaluation: 6+/10
The noodle tasted good, I had phad thai before, and I think the taste is much richer here. I think the sweet and tangy taste balances each other out and I think it tasted rather nice. Also I did not mix the dried chili flakes, because I did not want to choke on the spiciness.  I think the noodle itself had a touch of spiciness to it or it could be because I am sensitive to spicy food. Anyhow the noodle was good on its own, no additional condiments needed to boost the taste.

If you mix your noodles with the crushed peanuts, it gives you a little crunch when you eat your soft noodles. Although I wished they had put some chopped chicken meat in there rather than a lot of tofu.

BBQ Chicken with Sticky Rice (RM20.90)

Visual Observation: 7+/10
You get to choose to eat your meal with either coconut rice or sticky rice.
It looks plentiful visually, chicken portion was big and it looks delicious. The salad looks healthy and very Thai like.

Taste evaluation: 6+/10
My sis ordered this dish, so I am going to put her comments in here.
The chicken was slightly salty, but it goes well with the sticky rice and salad. The chicken was cooked thoroughly and was easy to eat. I am guessing they marinated the chicken with some salty sauce and was slow cooked. The chicken was not tender, the outer part is mildly dry but the meat is still juicy. Perfect!!
Sticky rice was warm but my sis had hard time trying to pry the rice out of the tiny dumpling basket. The rice was hard to the touch. Not sure this is how sticky rice is generally served. Taste wise nothing to point out about.

The salad was a big surprise, we were tricked into thinking it was tangy. My sister had a good spoonful of the salad only to start coughing. Thank god it was not so bad or else everyone would have seen our ugly spicy face LOL. We both had a tiny bit and avoid any second helping. I’m sorry it was too spicy for us. The tangy sauce was just shockingly spicy that my lips had burning sensation throughout the lunch.
If you can take the heat, then mixture of the sticky rice, chicken and the spicy salad would have been a great mix.

Overall conclusion: Not bad – will try again.
I think it was unfair to say that the Thai food has burned us. We are both overly sensitive to spicy food. I would absolutely try other dishes. Looking around the restaurant,  I saw many people order variety of awesome food. I would definitely comeback to try other dishes but this time with someone who enjoys spicy food.

Seed Café @ Midvalley

I made plans to hang out at Midvalley with my friend. Knowing our hang out location for the night, I thought we should try something different to eat. So I had some free time and decided to browse the internet and decide on which eatery I’m yet to try.
I was craving for some Malaysia delicacy soupy meal, with reasonable pricing of course. After going through the Midvalley website (hahahah), I decided on Seed Café.
The first thing I notice about this place is that it’s WHITE and PLAIN. I mean, it look pretty standard, not very impressive on the mood or theme (or lack) of the restaurant.  One thing that bothered me about the tables setting was that, they put this ‘mahjong’ paper on top of the white cloth. Perhaps it is to avoid staining the white cloth, but really, it feels like rather “cheap” looking.
We were immediately seated and given menus. Pretty much mixture of western and Malaysian dishes. I decided on Seed Prawn Noodles while my friend ordered Hainanese Chicken.
Seed Prawn Noodles

Visual Observation: 6/10
Served in a big white bowl, looks yummy and served warm. Looks plentiful and soup does not look too thick or oily.
Taste Evaluation: 4/10
While it looked good, I’m going to have to disagree with the taste. I’ve had prawn noodles before in local stalls and other restaurants. It taste pretty much the same but rather than being spicy it was pretty sweet. Now, I don’t like to have sweet dishes unless I crave for it. This was not was the sweet craving moment. Plenty of small and big prawns, the soup was not spicy, so for those who wants more spiciness need to mix some chili given (separately). Kinda defeat the purpose of writing SPICY SOUP on the menu!!
I think a Chinese street stall is way better and richer in taste. Personally, I don’t think it has a notable taste that you can definitely say it belongs uniquely to Seed Café.
Hainanese Chicken

Visual Observation: 3/10
I honestly think the presentation can be improved, it does not have the “put together” feel, honestly to me it looked rather lame.  I’m itching to say the Chicken Rice Shop have better food display LOL
Taste Evaluation: 4/10
I’m writing this base on what my friend commented.
She said the rice was ok nothing special about it, but the chicken (which is the main thing) did not have much taste, pretty blunt. The food was warm. But she was not happy nor did she feel like it has any exceptional qualities.
Overall conclusion: Meh-should improve more!
Again I would like to emphasis, that I only review what my friend(s) and I ate. Since we only tried two dishes from this eatery that does not mean we claim the other food offered here are bad as well.

I honestly think it can be improved. I mean price is about RM12++ and above, but the food quality does not justify the pricing.

Fatboy’s The burger Bar and Mad About Coco @ Publika

Fatboy’s The burger Bar (not Halal)
My sister and our friend Suga, decided to hit something big in portion and heavy for lunch. And we did just that.
We decided to go for the burger bar around 2.30pm. I know, it’s a little pass our lunch time. But can you blame the KL traffic. So what are the rumours I heard about this burger bar? Burgers are different and unique. Its big portion and last you for a whole week (people tend to exaggerate).
So when we walked in, the first thing I saw was the gangster looking, fat boy with beefy arms, logo. Funny that is how I pictured him when I first heard of this place. I like the theme and the graffiti used in this place. Not many people around, maybe just a handful of late lunch goers such as ourselves.
There is about a list of about 10 types of burgers. All with unique name and combination. I went for something I know I never tasted before. We got two set of burger dish and one side dish.
Visual Observation: 8/10
Now the thing about burgers, it’s basically stacking. So if you mess that up. Your burger looks unappealing. So if the stacking is neat, you get good points.
Mahalo

Clean stack of burger with tiny Fatboy’s The burger bar flag. The sesame buns looks soft, and delicious. A nice helping of homemade fries.
The Elvis
Clean and neatly stacked burger with their signature flag. Dark oat buns. Also big slices of crispy fried potato. Yummy.
Honestly, I don’t know why I was expecting fat Elvis face on the bun for some reason. Sorry Elvis lovers LOL
Taste Evaluation: 8/10
Mahalo
This is basically pork all the way. Pork patty and caramelized onions, grilled pineapple. The buns are soft and the pork is juicy. I liked it, not too dry or too much meat that you feel like you gonna dislocate your jaw when you start chewing.
My sister got this one, I know she is not a big fan of onions and very picky if it is not caramelized properly. So my sis, she didn't take a liking to the onions perhaps it’s a bit too much for her. She liked the pork patty very much though.

The Elvis

Need I saw more, Fat Elvis = Peanut butter + banana. Thanks to my friend Suga, who recommend I try this baby.
Basically pork patty, peanut butter and banana. First bite, I loved it. I like how the pork patty goes well with smooth creamy peanut butter. You know how, sometimes peanut butter, tend to have slight salty taste. This one didn't have that. Instead when u bit further in you get this sweet grilled banana coated with peanut butter and when you chew them all up. It taste AWESOME.
I love how they cut the bananas into medium thin slices. But my only comment is that, Try not to put too much banana in it. For me when you are eating it at one point the sweet banana tend to overpower the meat. Now, I know that peanut butter and banana are like cute gay couple but sometimes it gets a little too much to handle. (no offense to gays out there).
I have to admit maybe it’s because of the untimely lunch we had. Both my sis and i did not finishing the fries. It was good but it was too much for me to finish. I may have sweep the plate clean if I was super hungry. But I guess I really wasn't at that time.
Deep fried calamari (side dish)
This one is not very remarkable that I want to jump up and dance about. Basically taste just like any other deep fried calamari dish and it comes with a normal dipping sauce. Just a reminder don’t eat this when its gets cold. Because that last piece was cold and when I took a bite it slapped me in the lips. OUCH!!! (Means it got rubbery)
Overall conclusion: Impressed and filling
I wanted to try a good unique burger and that is what I got. We enjoyed it very much and had fun teasing our quivering taste buds? Yes? No …..Wrong choice of word? LOL. Just make sure u make some “room” before you eat here. The portion are big and it can be a bit too much if you have something earlier. Very filling indeed.
All the burgers (comes with fries) is RM16++ and above. Tax and service charges is applied.

Mad About Coco

Yes, we did it on the same day. LOL We are goblins when it comes to food.
So I was looking at some food blogs and came across this place. First thing I saw was chocolate next thing I did was call my sis and made plans to go there.
This place is located at the second floor, above the Kari Mee Jawa. Just look up and if you spot a big afro with big glasses, then you are in the right place. The moment you walk up the stairs you can smell the chocolate. Yes just like in the cartoon, we got pulled in by the chocolate aroma. The whole place had this vintage 60’s café you see at old movies. I like their colour selection for the place. Very nice!.
It was almost 5pm when we got there, loads of youngsters like ourselves going HAHA and HEHEH over everything (quite noisy). So we found a nice little spot right behind the white curtain, I notice there was no menu. So I went to the counter and asked for some. The young lady at the counter said we should place our order and payment first at the counter. Not pay after.
So we decided on Innocent Devil Tiramisu Ball, Chocolate goodies in a pot, Traditional Chocolate Frappe and Chocolate Mojito.
Visual Observation
Innocent Devil Tiramisu Ball (RM20): 6+/10
The ball looks neat, cute and almost cuddly. White on the top dark on the bottom. But in my opinion, for RM20, I wish the ball was bigger and seriously those tiny biny slices of strawberry was really unacceptable. I’m sorry if I sound harsh, but really I was hoping for a nice portion for RM20. Say what you want “good things taste better in small portion” but I am a hardcore Malaysian gurl who likes my food to match the price they slap on it!
Chocolate goodies in a pot (RM18.50): 4/10
It was just a cute little pot with ice cream on the top. Not really notable. I mean at least I wasn't impressed.
Traditional Chocolate Frappe and Chocolate Mojito (RM15 each): 4/10
I mean besides the glass shape, I don’t know what else is impressive, I mean looking at it visually that is.
Taste Evaluation
Innocent Devil Tiramisu Ball: 8/10

Ok by far this was my favourite. I think this made a grand impression for me. I think the chocolatier did a good job. The waitress kindly asked us if we would like to take a picture of the ball before she poured the semi-hot chocolate over it. It got me thinking just how far we have come, that taking pictures of our food has become such a normal thing LOL.
Anyway, when she poured the chocolate over the ball it’s almost nostalgic to watch the top white part break and fall in under the chocolate syrup.
I think the dark chocolate syrup goes absolutely well with the devilish chocolate moist cake hiding underneath. LOL. We were already digging into it. I also wanted to call the waitress back so that I could lick the remaining chocolate off the small cup she poured the chocolate syrup from. HAHAH is that normal?
We all agreed it was the best and we all also wished it was bigger. LOL Almost screamed MOAR!!!!
Chocolate goodies in a pot: 4+/10
This one was a disappointment for me. I was expecting something different. Well it was not very goodie-ish for me. I mean I personally thought the cake under the vanilla flavoured ice cream, was rather dry and it was also stuck to the baking paper and pot. Making it difficult to scrape the cake and ice cream out together. Also I wish we had taken orange ice cream instead since it might have helped us enhance the taste. Otherwise it was just ok. Not so delicious like I imagined it to be.
I wished they used dark chocolate (slightly bitter) over the cake and orange ice cream instead. The chocolate used here was sweet and it did not mix well with the ice cream.
Traditional Chocolate Frappe: 3/10

This was rather disappointing for me. I was expecting more chocolate in it. But it felt more like powdered coco and was kind of tasteless. Also probably because of eating way too much chocolate earlier. But really I was expecting dark almost bitter sweet taste. Very icy was the first thing that came to my mind when I took a sip.
I wished I had ordered chocolate martini instead.
Chocolate Mojito: 3+/10
I tasted this from my sister. I don’t think I taste anything different from mine. But the first thing I did notice is that it did not taste as icy as the above drink. I going to go with my sister’s comment. It was not something so impressive or rather stimulating to taste. Rather bland and don’t have enough chocolate taste to it.
Overall conclusion: Ok la
Ok I know this is not fair, because I order very little. But this review is based on what I ordered and tasted. So I would say, they might need to improve their drinks section. And of course looking around at other people’s table I did notice the portions are quite small. No service or tax charges. I might go again but will try something else.

Oyster King and Espresso Lab @ One Utama review

Oyster King
My friend Wanie and I was walking around thinking about what we wanted to eat, since I’ve already had a heavy lunch, I thought we could do something light. I remember seeing this Oyster King in groupon promotion but as usual it’s always packed and I’m not very sure how I feel about oysters since I don’t think I’ve ever ate it before. I think la.
I have to apologise about the lack of pictures because I didn’t know I was going to do this blog.
So we ordered Oyster noodle soup, deep fried oysters and oyster wantons. And No drinks LOL
So guess what, the first thing I did notice was that the workers were foreigner, not saying I have a problem with that but please make sure the one at the counter taking your order knows English at least. We had to repeat our orders a few time.
It took less than 10 minutes before all the food came to our tiny little corner table.
Visual Observation: 5/10
Looks good, not sloppy. Not a impressive display. The plate was oyster shaped and comes with a small area that contains the sauce. Portions are small for both fried dishes, so if you are ordering for large group than better to ask if they serve a larger portion.
Taste Evaluation: 3/10
Wantan
Ok like I mention before, I don’t know if I ever tasted oysters before this, so I was shocked that it tasted so salty. Like really salty. So I dipped my wanton in the sauce that came with it and nearly choked because the sauce was also salty. I really wish the sauce was sweet so that it could balance it out the saltiness from the oyster. But other than that it tasted good. Not rubbery or anything. Just salty.
Wantan Noodle Soup
I like this one better. I think it really goes well. The gravy was thick, thin noodles and had half boiled egg. The gravy balanced out the salty taste. Personally I recommend dipping and soaking your wanton and deep fried oysters in the noddle soap gravy before eating it.
Deep fried oysters
This is pretty much the same with wanton, also salty. It has crunchy exterior and chewy interior. This dish also came with dipping sauce and it was ……..u guessed it salty :P. Taste good no complains.
Overall conclusion: Can be improved
I would say, if they change the sauce to something thicker and sweeter, it would be awesome.
The service was fast (maybe because there was only two customers)
The dish was served hot and clean. Not sloppy.
Best of all not government or service tax. So basically it’s a cheap and affordable, Recommend for those who want to taste something light and different.

Espresso Lab

We took a while to find this place because, mainly because I had this impression it was a store instead of an outside booth\stall. You know what I mean, like an actual store/cafe?. …..errk no …just me …ok never mind then.
So we finally found the booth\stall, and there was single guy at the counter. He smiled and ask us to take our time in selecting our drinks. Ok this guy was also a foreigner and I think he is Filipino, but he can speak English well. This is who you need at the counter.
Wanie and I decided to go with the usual. Iced Latte for her and Cappuccino for me.  Yums !!
Visual Observation: 6/10
Iced Latte
The normal glass used for iced coffee. Nothing impressive. (not sure what I was expecting actually). Clean and not messy.
Cappuccino
Oh dear god, I made a mistake by asking for on-the-go cup, because I had the impression we were going for a walk right after we got our drinks. So instead of the big mug, I got a black take away paper cup. The plus point is that the barista (is what you call a person who makes coffee) made this cute leafy coffee design for me. I loved it.
Taste Evaluation: 3/10
Iced Latte
It taste good, rich coffee taste. Strong, but not too strong. Since this is my friend’s drink. I’m going with her comments. Like all coffee drinks (well mostly of course) they don’t come with sugar in it. So I recommend to take a sip, determine how bitter or strong your coffee is before you make a run for sugar syrups or packets.
Cappuccino
Strong coffee, but not too bitter. I usually like my cappuccino without any sugar, unless the coffee itself is too strong/bitter own its own. I think the milk balance it nicely and it’s smooth and taste nice with my sugar cinnamon bun (bought from lavender bakery).
Overall conclusion: It’s not bad
We would say that we are impressed with the taste rather than its visual observation. I mean, visual is nothing if it don’t taste good. (Works only on food not on ladies).
I wish the barista would have recommended more drinks for us to try. Like if he could have told us to try out any signature drinks that is Espresso lab’s speciality would have been great. Best of all not government or service tax.

We will be back next time to try other drinks.
